Cairns 2013 season is here, were on our way north
We are on our way too Cairns for what will be my 9th season running the TRADITION, and my 18th or 19th Cairns season.
A trip to the boat yard this year, mostly just some mechanical chores and lots of varnish for the this year and the boat is looking fantastic for the season.
We are currently off Gladstone and just having a nice quiet trip up this year, we are not in a rush, and getting ready to do some fishing over the next 2 weeks on the way to Cairns, hopefully some nice bottom fish and some little black marlin to keep us busy and well fed.
Its been a great year in the Caribbean on the “Ambush” and can’t wait to get going for the big blacks later this month.
For crew this year we have Erik and Justin, both I have known for many years and excellent crew and company for us, and as a bonus Justin is a qualified chef, so lots more tasty things to come this year !!!
The little black marlin have shown up quite well this year, no silly numbers, but good solid fishing with 3-6 bites a day on average out of Townsville, and almost similar in Cairns this year, as well as good numbers already off the Sunshine coast, which will be a good thing for us when we get home to the Gold Coast in Dec and January. If you are interested in the trip down the coast in December and light tackle off the Gold Coast in before Christmas and in January, please let me know.
After the last couple of seasons where TRADITION caught the largest fish of the season two years in a row, we are all jacked up for this year to begin. !!
I have some excellent main season dates still available so please let me know if you are interested in coming this season.
Heres some pics from our trip up , a chance to go to some of the great spots that we miss out on when we are in a hurry !!!
