Cairns 2019

Cairns has been incredible for October

Just an incredible October this season, We started with long time Cairns angler Lydie, joining us after some years away with her daughter Axelle for the first time. Axelle is only 5, so we had lots of nice swims in the morning and playing on the beach at Lizard, followed by some great fishing, with Lydie catching 4 blacks, and Axelle catching a 40# yellowfin tuna. Her first big fish.

John joined us on his trip of a lifetime to the GBR and tagged 4 fish in 4 days with us, excited was an understatement. Unfortuately we had one slow 7 day trip next with only 2 fish, but some great snorkelling, spearing and lots of fun. And Amanda completed her IGFA Royal slam with her black, after catching her Atlantic blue with us in the DR earlier this year.

My long term friend Ken joined us with his guests and we had the mothership Beluga for the 7 days, the food and hospitality of the Beluga was incredible, and the fishing was much the same. Ken caught 11 blacks in 7 days, with the biggest ones being 500,900 and 800. Some awesome fishing !!!

Simon and Rob came all the way for the UK for 7 days and the great fishing kept rolling along, we had some great fish , with Rob catching his first ever marlin, a real nice one around 950 that fought hard for almost and hour, then over the next days Simon got a 650 and finished with a super hot 1100 lb black, only to then hook Rob up right away with another big fish that we lost after 2 hours with a heap of drag, this fish took us 3 miles out to sea before the line couldn’t take any more.

This last trip, that finished today, we fished Rich and his dad Jim for 5 days of fishing, and caught 15 blacks, with the biggest at 850 and 800. Just some great fishing. Our October total to Nov 3 is 36 blacks, some great fishing, giving us 47 for the season so far.
With a big body of fish offshore coming this way, November should be great too.
